GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One person is in critical condition after being hit by a car while crossing Michigan Street Tuesday morning.
The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. in the area of Michigan Street and Prospect Avenue. Grand Rapids police say the pedestrian had been crossing the street heading southbound and was in or near the crosswalk.
The car, traveling eastbound, struck the pedestrian in the curb lane.
Police say the pedestrian, a 25-year-old Grand Rapids resident, is in critical condition. The driver, a 26-year-old Grand Rapids resident, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to police.
