GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — As temperatures drop and snow works its way into the forecast, Grand Rapids officials are gearing up for a winter favorite—the opening of the Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink!
The rink is tentatively set to open on Thursday, Dec. 5, although that opening is weather dependent.
Each year, thousands coming to downtown Grand Rapids to skate at the iconic rink.
“We are thrilled to welcome skaters back to downtown rink this season as it provides a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to come together, stay active, and create lasting memories during the winter months,” said Parks and Recreation Director David Marquardt.
Admission for adults is $6 and admission for people 17 and under is $3. Both rates include skate rentals.
Since the rink can fill up quickly, you're encouraged to reserve your spot ahead of time. There will be 50 reserved spots per skating session. Reservations will open on Monday, Dec. 2. You can secure your time slot online here.
If you skate at the rink often, you can get a punch card after the rink opens.
The ice skating rink will be open daily until Saturday, Feb. 22. Any closures or changes to the rink's operating hours will be posted on the Rosa Parks Ice Rink Facebook page, at grandrapidsmi.gov/skating and on the closure hotline at 616-456-3699.
