GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Easter is on its way, and students at Saint Paul The Apostle School are asking for help from the community to bring baskets full of Easter joy to children across the city.
Every year, the school does a service project collecting Easter baskets to be distributed to children. When 13 ON YOUR SIDE covered the project last year, the kids ended up raising materials for more than 1,300 baskets.
The children have provided a list of things they need:
- New or gently used aster baskets, Easter bags, and Easter grass
- Small toys, games, yard games, jump ropes, jacks, or stuffed animals
- Bubbles, chalk, Play-Doh, balls, or any other items that would be appropriate for Easter baskets
- Plastic bats, balls, and sandbox toys
- Books, coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, markers, pencils, erasers
- Deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lip balm, hand lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash
- Individually-wrapped candy, small bags of treats
- Chocolate bunnies, theatre-sized box candy
- Hair brushes, combs, headbands, pony tail holders, barrettes
- Juice boxes, small bottles of pop, Gatorade/Powerade
- Cash donations to purchase items still needed to fill the baskets
If you would like to help, you can contact Kathy Swain at 616-949-1690, ext. 223 or kswain@spagr.org. All donations are needed by March 15. Saint Paul the Apostle is located at 2750 Burton Street SE in Grand Rapids.
