GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Crews are working on a water main break in Grand Rapids, just a day after a separate main break caused flooding in a southeast Grand Rapids neighborhood.
The water main break is near the intersection of Kalamazoo Avenue and Ramona Street. It was first reported around midnight on Friday, and police were called to help with traffic control in the area.
City officials say it is a separate, smaller main line than the one impacted on Friday.
Kalamazoo Avenue is currently closed from Oakdale Street to Ramona Street as crews are working, police say.
This is about a half mile from Thursday's water main break. Steve Guitar with the City of Grand Rapids said the water main breaks may be connected, but that it's normal.
"With all of the valve operations in the area over the past 36 hours, it is not uncommon to get additional leaks like this resulting from change in flows and pressure variants," Guitar said.
The city says only a couple properties are impacted by the issue. No boil water advisory will be issued in this case.
