Grandville Public Schools closed Thursday after anonymous tip of alleged threat

The district said the tip was that rumors were circulating through the school that someone would be pulling the fire alarm on Thursday and then attacking students.

GRANDVILLE, Mich. — Grandville Public Schools will be closed Thursday, Sept. 19 due to an alleged threat made toward "Grandville Intermediate."

The school district shared a letter with parents Wednesday evening saying that they received a tip through OK2SAY letting them know there was a possible threat.

The district said the tip was that rumors were circulating through the school that someone would be pulling the fire alarm on Thursday and then attacking students as they evacuated the building.

They also said that they did not feel they could conduct a thorough enough investigation by Thursday morning. So they chose to close the schools as a precaution.

The closure includes preschool and Treehouse programs. Thursday evening activities are still uncertain pending more information.
