IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — An Ionia family is putting the spook in spooktacular when it comes to their Halloween decorations.
They’re using their fun-filled Halloween decorations bring out both the scare and donations this year.
From the creepy laughs to the thrilling faces, Ty Possehn’s family goes all out.
“Halloween is bigger around here. It's bigger on here year-round for us,” said Possehn, a home owner.
Every year, they pull out the cobwebs and dust off the skeletons to celebrate the spooky holiday.
But this year, they are going all out.
“it's going to be a goal to go bigger every year, and come up with some better stuff,” said Possehn.
For years, the family has put on a big display just to make people happy. But this year, they are using their decorations to raise money for St. Jude.
“The families don't get charged anything. So donating that back, giving it back, giving something back. Now that we have an opportunity to do that. I'm all for it,” said Possehn.
The effort is simple, when people drive up to the see the decorations, they’ll find a QR code where people can scan it and donate money.
Possehn says when his family heard how easily they could help others, they pulled every trick out of their haunted book.
“We're going to do this for Halloween no matter what. But be able to lace up to get be able to give back to the St. Jude's. It's a it's a big positive for us,” said Possehn.
The family has already surpassed its goal and has raised more than $600.
With the fundraiser running until Oct. 31, they now say they hope to raise at least $3,000.
