DETROIT — The United States Department of Labor is trying to return over $2.1 million in recovered wages to nearly 4,000 Michigan workers.
The labor department wants to return $2,121,859 in wages recovered by its Wage and Hour Division to 3,935 Michigan workers who were wrongly denied pay.
The U.S. Department of Labor collects back wages from employers who are not legally paying their employees the correct amount.
Any money that the employers don't directly pay back to the employee is recovered by the labor department and then attempted to be returned.
If you believe that you are owed back wages, you can use the Workers Owed Wages online tool to find the wages that you may be owed.
The online tool requires that you search for your former employer, verify your name, submit contact information and upload a signed claim form and any supporting documents.
