Port Sheldon Township crash between car, motorcycle leaves man seriously injured

Deputies said a motorcycle and vehicle collided and the motorcycle went into a nearby ditch.

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A man was seriously injured in a crash between a car and his motorcycle on Friday evening, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. 

Deputies said around 4 p.m. they were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of 144th Avenue and Van Buren Street. 

OCSO said the preliminary investigation showed that a 23-year-old Holland man was riding a motorcycle northbound on 144th Avenue. A 36-year-old Holland woman then entered the intersection with her vehicle on Van Buren Street. 

Deputies said the motorcycle and vehicle collided and the motorcycle went into a nearby ditch. 

The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, OCSO said. 

According to deputies, it's unknown if the motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet. However, they said a helmet was found at the scene away from the motorcycle. 

The crash is under investigation by OCSO.
