HOLLAND, Mich. — An 18-year-old woman was seriously injured Wednesday night when a boat she was in crashed into the Holland pier.
Deputies say the crash happened around 10:15 p.m. A 26-foot boat was being driven by a 69-year-old man and contained an 18-year-old woman, a 22-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman.
The boat crashed into the south pier head, sending the 18-year-old into the water and rocks on the Lake Macatawa channel side of the pier, deputies say. She was helped back into the boat by another passenger.
She was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 69-year-old man was also injured in the crash.
Deputies say the navigational beacon on the pier was working at the time of the crash.
This incident is still under investigation.
