West Michigan homeowner angry after duo lights firework on front porch

Angela Gill said she was awoken to a large boom outside of her home Saturday night. After looking at security camera video, she learned it was a firework.

ADA, Mich — An unwanted fireworks show took place on an Ada homeowners' front porch Saturday night, and now, she wants answers.

"It makes me upset, because someone really could have been hurt," said the homeowner, Angela Gill. "They could have really started a fire. They would have started a fire. I mean, we were in the house. My daughters were in the home."

Gill, who lives with her husband and two kids, said she was awoken by a large bang around 11 p.m. Saturday.

After looking at their overhead surveillance camera video, she saw it was two teenagers, confirmed by the Kent County Sheriff's Office, who lit a firework, and then threw it towards her front door.

In the surveillance video, you can see one of the boys knock on the door, phone in hand, while the other lights the firework. They later take off running through the front yard.

"If we would have opened the door, or any of my girls would have opened the door, you know, they would have done some damage to not just our property, but our faces," said Gill.

The damage is still there as a reminder for Gill and her family.

Siding is littered will holes from the explosion, ones she says weren't there before. On the concrete in front of the door, burn marks from the firework.

"It makes me really upset, because, you know, this is my home," said Gill. "This is where we're supposed to feel like we have peaceful rest, and we don't have to worry about this so, and it's weird because that kind of stuff doesn't happen in this neighborhood."

For those responsible, a message from the upset homeowner: Keep the fireworks in the sky and out of homes.

"They just need to be stopped, because they didn't hurt anyone at this time, but they could hurt someone," said Gill." They could hurt... it's just ridiculous. I mean, teepeeing is one thing, you know, ding dong ditch it is another thing. But this is, I mean, not to sound fanatical, but borderline arson, because you're lighting something on my porch in front of flammable things."

Investigators with the Kent County Sheriff's Office said they are looking to identify the two boys in the security cam video. You can contact their office directly with any information.
