WAYLAND, Mich. — The Wayland Fire Department posted to Facebook on Wednesday and said they're grateful for the outpouring of community support and prayers for Fire Chief Jim Stoddard.

Stoddard had a cardiac emergency on April 26 and he's been in the critical care unit at Butterworth Hospital since.

In the post made on Wednesday, the department said he's continuing to fight and they're encouraged by his progress.

"The support from our community has been a source of strength and inspiration," the post said.

The department said since asking the community for their prayers on Sunday, there have been questions about how to send Stoddard cards.

Those interested in sending cards can mail them to the fire department. The post said crews will be sure they're delivered to Stoddard.

The mailing address is:

Chief Jim Stoddard, Wayland Fire Department, 160 W. Superior St., Wayland, MI 49348
