IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — A man and two children were rescued from a burning vehicle by bystanders after a crash in Ionia County.

Deputies say the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday on S State Road. A 2012 Subaru Impreza, driven by a 27-year-old Orange Township man, had left the roadway and crashed into a tree. The vehicle then caught fire.

Initial reports to dispatch said the occupants were trapped inside.

All three occupants were taken to a hospital for treatment. The children, ages 3 and 9, were taken as a precaution. The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
