IONIA, Mich. — School leadership at Ionia Public Schools announced they're closing on Tuesday.
It's due to an issue with the district's phone system, which isn't working on Memorial Day.
Phones aren't letting staff make outgoing calls, including 911.
To keep students and staff safe, the school said they're erring on the side of safety by closing the building on Tuesday.
The district announced the closure just before 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
Students already had a short week with no class on Memorial Day. The school's schedule also calls for students to have a half-day on Friday, May 31.
