(Grand Rapids-AP) -- A suburban Grand Rapids man has been sentenced to life in prison for the brutal slayings of his mother and two sisters. Eighteen-year-old Jon Siesling of Walker apologized for the killings during his sentencing hearing in Kent County Circuit Court. His court-appointed lawyer had argued that Siesling was legally insane. Richard Hillary says he plans to appeal the verdict and the sentence. Siesling was convicted last month of three counts of first-degree murder. The victims were his 42-year-old mother Sharon, his 15-year-old sister Katelin and his six-year-old sister Leah. They were killed at their home on January 22nd, 2003. They were stabbed with a large kitchen knife and beaten with a baseball bat.
