The advisory was made in cooperation with the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department.
Residents should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, preparing food, brushing their teeth, or any other circumstance where they consume water.
If residents are boiling water, it should be brought to a full rolling boil for one minute and allowed to cool before use.
Affected areas include:
- West Main Street
- From Wealthy Street (western boundary) to Pinehurst Boulevard (eastern boundary), both sides of the roadway.
- Boil water advisory does NOT include the northwest corner of Pinehurst Boulevard @ West Main Street.
- Jennison Avenue

- East Westwood Drive
- From West Main Street (northern boundary) south to West Westwood Drive (southern boundary), both sides of the roadway.
- West Westwood Drive
- From West Main Street (northern boundary) south to East Westwood Drive (southern boundary), both sides of the roadway.
The city said the advisory is only precautionary, as there haven't been any confirmed tests showing bacteria in the water main where they're repairing the infrastructure.
Initial sampling results of the water will be available within 24 hours once it's collected. The final set will be ready within 48 hours.
The advisory is expected to be lifted within the next 72 hours (by Sunday, May 12).
