KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — A woman in Kalamazoo County isn't going to have to worry about any time soon after winning big with a Michigan Lottery instant game.

The 33-year-old is $2 million richer after matching 10 words when playing Colossal Cashword, a scratch off instant crossword game from Michigan Lottery.

“Colossal Cashword has been my favorite game since it came out,” said the player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I scratched the barcode right when I bought the ticket and gave it to the clerk to scan it. He handed it back with a slip that said to file a claim at the Lottery office and said: ‘You must have won big; you have to go to the Lottery office!’"

The lucky player purchased her ticket at Hoffman’s Corner Store, located at 5905 South Westnedge Avenue in Portage.

“I went home and scratched the ticket, and when I revealed the tenth word and saw it was a prize of $2 million, I started screaming! Winning feels good and came at the perfect time," the player said.

The $2 million winner chose to take her prize in one lump sum payment of $1.3 million, instead of annual payments for the full amount. She says she is going to pay her bills and save the rest of her money for her kids.

The Michigan Lottery said that players have won more than $59 million playing Colossal Cashword since it was launched in September of last year. The lottery said that two $2 million top prizes and 13 $10,000 prizes still remain to be awarded.

The Colossal Cashword scratch-off ticket costs $30 each.
