KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man was arrested for interfering with firefighters at a house fire in Kalamazoo early Saturday morning.
According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, around 2 a.m. officers received a call from a passerby about a structure fire in the 1400 block of N Rose Street.
When officers arrived, they said there was heavy fire in the back half of the home. However, an initial dampening of the fire while officers hooked up to the fire hydrants helped to limit the damage.
While firefighters were working to put the fire out, KDPS said a crowd formed outside and a Kalamazoo man attempted to enter the home despite firefighters on the scene telling him not to.
KDPS said the man was arrested for interfering with a firefighter and is being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
The fire was out in about 10 minutes, according to KDPS.
