Kalamazoo shooting spree: What we know

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WZZM) -- The mass shooting situation in Kalamazoo is over following the arrest of a 45-year-old man, Michigan State Police say. To support the victims, text “support now” to 20222.

It remains a developing situation, however, with six people dead and two others wounded at three individual, "random" shooting scenes, MSP Lt. Dale Hinz said. The man, identified as Jason Dalton, was taken into police custody at 12:40 a.m. Sunday at Ransom and Porter streets in downtown Kalamazoo.

"The threat to the public is over," Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas said. "We now have our suspect."

• 11:50 a.m.: Uber confirms Dalton was a driver-partner and had passed a background check. Joe Sullivan, Chief Security Officer at Uber also stated: "We are horrified and heartbroken at the senseless violence in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this devastating crime and those recovering from injuries. We have reached out to the police to help with their investigation in any way that we can."
  
• 11:30 a.m.: Michigan State police confirm four of the victim's names: Mary Lou Nye, 62, of Baroda, Mich.; Mary Jo Nye, 60, a retired teacher from Battle Creek, Mich.; Dorothy Brown, 74, of Battle Creek, Mich.; and Barbara Hawthorne, 68, of Battle Creek, Mich. The 14-year-old is currently in critical condition at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
  
• 10:15 a.m.: Meghan Bunchman interviews neighbors on Twitter.
  
• 9:30 a.m.: Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder expresses his condolences on Twitter.
  
• 9:20 a.m.: Cracker Barrel employees, patrons, find restaurant closed upon arrival after shooting.

• 8:10 a.m.: Police seen removing items from suspect Jason Dalton's home in Kalamazoo.

• 8 a.m.: Kalamazoo shooting suspect 'intentionally' killed victims, officials say
  
• 7:05 a.m.: There has been conflicting information regarding the 14-year-old girl wounded at the Cracker Barrel restaurant. Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting said she is still alive but "severely, gravely injured." At this point, six people are dead and two people are injured.
  
• 5:15 a.m.: 45-year-old Jason Dalton is the suspect in custody for the mass shooting in Kalamazoo, according to police. He's likely to be arraigned Monday, the prosecutor said.

• 3 a.m.: Police have scheduled a 7 a.m. news conference to provide the latest on the Kalamazoo shootings. WZZM 13 News will carry it live.
  
• About 1:40 a.m.: Janella Escobar, Cracker Barrel Old County Store spokeswoman, provided the following statement: “We are deeply saddened by the events that have occurred in Kalamazoo. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims. Cracker Barrel is fully cooperating with authorities in this ongoing investigation and will do so as long as needed.”
  
• 1 a.m.: A report of shots fired near 6th Street and W. OP Avenue in Texas Township. No victims were located.
  
• 12:40 a.m.: Police discovered the dark colored Chevy HHR in question at Ransom and Porter streets in downtown Kalamazoo. The suspect, a 45-year-old white man, was arrested without incident. Police found numerous weapons in his vehicle.
  

Saturday, Feb 20:

• 10:15 p.m.: A third shooting was reported at the Cracker Barrel restaurant near I-94, located west of Kalamazoo. Four people were shot and killed. A 14-year-old girl was shot and is in critical condition.

• 10 p.m.: A second shooting occurred at the Seelye Kia car dealership, located at 4102 Stadium Drive. Two people -- a father and son -- were shot and killed while sitting in their car. A third person might have been shot but police still are investigating.

• 6 p.m.: Police responded to the Meadows Townhomes complex, located on Kalamazoo's Northeast Side at 5066 Meadows Blvd., on reports of a woman shot multiple times. Police said she was shot four times in the parking lot. She is in serious condition.
