KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man was arrested Thursday in connection to multiple structure fires across Kalamazoo.

The suspect, a 32-year-old man, has not been named by police. He is facing multiple arson charges. Police say this is a "significant development" in the investigation of the fires, all of which were set at vacant homes and buildings in the Kalamazoo area.

“We are deeply grateful to the citizens of Kalamazoo for their information and tips throughout this investigation.” said Fire Marshal Scott Brooks. “While this arrest marks a major step forward, our work continues to ensure the safety of our neighborhoods.”

The case will be given to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office for review.
