Thomas Paul Anders, 21, of Battle Creek was found around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday with a gunshot wound to the torso. Kalamazoo Public Safety discovered the man in response to a shooting in the 800 block of Oakland Drive. A person of interest in the case is now in custody on unrelated charges.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the suspect shot the victim during an altercation and then fled on foot. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
