KENT COUNTY, Mich. — For the second time this year, Kent County law enforcement are noting a spike in thefts from construction sites.

In the last week, $22,000 in tools, supplies and generators were stolen from construction sites and a firework vendor, according to Kent County deputies. The construction sites are in Ada and Cascade townships.

Deputies say these properties—especially housing developments and remodeling projects—are often stolen from overnight.

Construction companies and firework vendors are urged to install security cameras near their equipment in case something is stolen.

Kent County deputies first warned of these thefts back in April, when $23,000 worth of trailers, tools, and construction materials were stolen from different job sites. Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young said this is common during the summer.

Anyone with information on these thefts is encouraged to contact investigators at 616-632-6125, or call Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 to report information safely and anonymously.
