BYRON CENTER, Mich. — Byron Center Public Schools has cancelled all classes for Monday while they investigate a possible threat.
Board of Education Secretary for Byron Center Public Schools Chuck Fedewa posted the email sent out to parents on Facebook, saying due to an abundance of caution the district has decided to cancel classes.
The Kent County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible threat made to Byron Center Public Schools, the district announced Sunday evening.
According to a release from BCPS to the community around 7:30 p.m., on Sunday afternoon BCPS was made aware of a possible threat to West Middle School or Byron Center High School for Monday, Sept. 9.
BCPS said they're working with KCSO to determine if there was any credibility to the threat.
The district said KCSO has been investigating a social media post that was made and is completing a comprehensive check of all areas.
BCPS said they, along with KCSO, will continue to review all safety protocols and determine the right next steps.
