Driver arrested after taking off from fatal crash with pedestrian in Kentwood

Police said the driver who struck the man took off but later returned to the scene. Officers arrested the driver.

KENTWOOD, Mich. — A car struck and killed a man walking across 44th Street Wednesday night, the Kentwood Police Department said. 

It happened just after 10:30 p.m. near Walnut Hills Drive. 

Police said the 26-year-old pedestrian was trying to cross the road when a car fatally struck him. 

Law enforcement said the driver took off from the scene but later returned. Police arrested the driver.
