Kentwood Police, Fire Departments investigating after 'suspicious' fire leads to discovery of dead body

The Kentwood Fire Department said they got access to several storage units that were on fire, put out the blaze and found a dead body.

KENTWOOD, Mich. — The Kentwood Police and Fire Departments are investigating after a suspicious death and fire in a storage facility on Thursday night. 

According to the KFD, crews were dispatched to a storage facility at 4284 Broadmoor Avenue SE at 10:47 p.m. for a report that several storage units were on fire. 

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw smoke coming from several units in one building. 

KFD said they got access to the units, put out the fire and found a dead body. 

KPD and the Kent County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit assisted KFD at the scene, and is investigating the incident as a suspicious death. 

Several storage units have fire and smoke damage. KFD said they're investigating the fire and don't know the cause of it yet.
