KENTWOOD, Mich. — Kentwood Public Schools announced there is no threat to KPS in a release sent to 9th-12th-grade students, families and staff at East Kentwood High School and the East Kentwood Freshman Campus on Sunday evening.

Dominic Lowe, the principal of the East Kentwood Freshman Campus at KPS, said conversation threads were circulating on social media over the weekend that may have been concerning to some students and families.

Lowe said thanks to a student who brought the issue to their attention, KPS was able to investigate the situation alongside their Kent County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer.

He said they were able to successfully resolve the situation.

Lowe said there was no time during the situation where there was a threat to the safety of the school community.

He said KPS wanted to take this as an opportunity to remind the community that if there are any concerns about a situation, they can be reported to a trusted school adult.

Students and family members can report concerns to Silent Observer or OK2Say
