LAKE COUNTY, Mich. — The Lake County Sheriff's Office posted to Facebook on Tuesday reporting a fatal vehicle crash.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. in Webber Township, they said deputies responded to the intersection of M-37 and 44th Street for a two-vehicle crash.

Authorities said their investigation shows a Dodge Grand Caravan traveling southbound on M-37 lost control and wound up in the path of a Chevy Tahoe traveling northbound on M-37. The Chevy struck the driver's side of the Caravan.

The driver of the Caravan was a 35-year-old woman from Irons, she was extricated at the scene.

The two female occupants of the Tahoe were transported to a nearby hospital for what officials said were minor injuries at the time. The driver of the Caravan was transported to a hospital in Grand Rapids.

While in route to Grand Rapids, the ambulance transporting the driver of the Caravan was struck by another vehicle, causing the ambulance to be immobilized. A second ambulance came and continued to transport the woman to Grand Rapids, she later was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No injuries were reported in the second crash.
