MONTAGUE, Mich. -- The La Fiesta Chip Co. is currently based out of a Ludington production facility. That will change later this year when the tortilla chip manufacture opens a production facility in the city of Montague.
The building the company is currently renovating is located at 8155 Cook St. La Fiesta is preparing the building and the work should be completed in time for the company to begin production at that location in mid-June.
The handmade chips are made in small batches and sold at a variety of retail location around the state.
Owners recently realized they needed a larger production facility in order to meet demand for their chips -- and the Montague building will provide La Fiesta that space. The move will end production in Ludington, but the company believes the new facility will immediately increase production by 25 to 30 percent.
La Fiesta chips grew out of the restaurant with the same name in Hart. The chips were first bagged in 2013.
Some of the company's 17 production workers will move to the new facility. Others will be hired after production in Montague begins.
