HOLLAND, Michigan — A student was removed from Holland High School Monday after school administrators and authorities learned about a threatening social media post.
The Interim Superintendent of Holland Public Schools Nick Cassidy said school administrators learned about the threat from other students, concerned parents and tips from the safety app OK2Say.
Staff immediately called the school resource officer from the Holland Police Department who pulled the student out of class, searched the student and did not find any weapons.
Authorities contacted a guardian and removed the student from school. The student will not be allowed to return to school until the investigation is complete.
"Threats like these are scary for us all. However, we are proud of the students and parents who spotted the social media post and had the courage to immediately report it to administrators and through OK2Say," Cassidy said in a note to parents.
"We are also thankful to the building administrators and to the School Resource Officer for taking the appropriate and immediate action to ensure the safety of our students and staff."
Administrators said they take threats to school safety seriously and want to continue to encourage students to report any threats.
