GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — The head of security for the largest school district in West Michigan is on paid administrative leave.
We're told Grand Rapids Public Schools Chief of Staff & Executive Director of Public Safety & School Security Larry Johnson has been on leave for about three weeks, MLive reports.
A statement from a district spokesperson indicates it was a phone conversation between Johnson and a parent that led to the investigation.
“The district is aware of a concern raised by a parent about the handling of a telephone conversation involving Chief of Staff Larry Johnson. Because of Mr. Johnson’s role within the district, an outside firm was brought in to handle the review of this matter.
Other administrators are handling Mr. Johnson’s duties during this process.
Out of respect for the privacy of our employees, the district does not discuss personnel matters with the public.”
Johnson is a former police officer who has worked for the school district since 1997.
