LOWELL CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Kent County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) reported in a post to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Wednesday evening that they were on the scene of what they called a "serious" crash.
The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Alden Nash Avenue and Emery, deputies said.
KCSO said responders arrived on scene to find the driver of a white Chevrolet Equinox , a 42-year-old woman from Belding, already deceased. They attempted to save the life of the front seat passenger, a 39-year-old woman from Lowell Twp, however she was also pronounced dead at the scene.
A 36-year-old adult in the backseat of the Chevrolet was airlifted by Aeromed to a nearby hospital, KCSO said they were in critical condition. The driver's two children, a 4-year-old and an 11-year-old, were also in the backseat and brought to a nearby hospital for their injuries.
A 20-year-old woman from Greenville was driving the other vehicle involved, a black Buick Encore, she was also transported to the hospital.
According to KCSO investigation of the scene shows the Chevy was traveling southbound on Alden Nash when it crossed the centerline, striking the Buick.
KCSO asked drivers to seek an alternate route while they processed the scene.
