Ludington State Park partially closing for nearly a year

LUDINGTON, Mich. — This summer is your last chance to visit Ludington State Park before it closes portions of the park for almost a year. 

The park's beaches, sand dunes, wetlands, marshes, trails, lighthouse and three campgrounds will be closed from Sept. 3, 2024, through July 1, 2025, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR).

While closed, the park will be undergoing construction including paving the main road, expanding parking and enhancing the entrance. 

Most of the sand dunes and some trails will still be accessible during construction. 

The construction is funded by a proposed $4.26 million in relief funding from Governor Gretchen Whitmer's Building Michigan Together Plan

This closure comes in addition to a construction project already underway in the park to update the campground's lift station. 

According to MDNR, the east loop of the campground will be closed through April 19.
