A woman called police saying someone broke into her home. When officers searched around the house, they shined a flashlight and saw the man inside.

HOLLAND, Michigan — A man was arrested after a home invasion and sexual assault in Holland early Tuesday morning, the Department of Public Safety says

A woman called police from her home on West 24th Street near Michigan Avenue around 2:20 a.m. after hearing someone break in.

Officers arrived and began checking around the house for a suspect. At one point, an officer shined a flashlight into the home and saw a male suspect.

He was later identified as Dominique Asher Hawkins.

The man quickly left the home on the opposite side, but another officer was there. After a short attempt to run away, the suspect was arrested.

The woman said the suspect, who she did not know, sexually assaulted her.

Hawkins was arraigned in court Tuesday and faces criminal sexual conduct, home invasion and resisting/obstructing an officer charges.

His bond was set at $250,000.
