GREEN CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Security camera footage in an entrance to the Green Charter Township Hall in Mecosta County shows the exact moments a graduation party was interrupted.
"It was during a graduation party, so that was our main concern that nobody had gotten hurt, we wanted to figure out what the whole situation was," said Jason Kruse.
Kruse is the township's supervisor who is often in and out of the hall throughout the week.
He said Timothy Solomon of Hersey showed up there with a machete Saturday afternoon, carrying a bird on his shoulder, and then started screaming at the people at the party, who had rented the building out for the afternoon.
Right now, it's not confirmed what he wanted or why he showed up to there in the first place.
"He pulled up into the front of the building and busted out our upper window glass pane on our front door," said Kruse. "When he couldn't gain access that way, he walked around to the side of the building where our main hall is, and then entered that way and, and engaged in the guests of the party."
The security camera video shows the almost six minute altercation, with at least four men from the party trying to get suspect to leave while those inside try to call police.
Michigan State Police say he left the party before officers arrived.
He's also accused of driving onto the lawn of the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office, threatening a corrections officer while still wielding the machete.
He's facing a total of 11 felony charges from throughout the day, including assault with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to murder.
Township employees say Solomon came to the office to speak with Kruse earlier in the week, but he was not in the office that day.
They say he wanted to talk about a variety of topics, including the controversial Gotion Battery Plant project.
Michigan State Police also said there were no injuries at both scenes, something Kruse said he's thankful for.
"We're really concerned about him," said Kruse. "We want to make sure that he's doing all right. And he gets the help he needs, if he needs help."
Solomon has a $150,000 bond for the sheriff's department incident, and a $50,000 bond for the township hall incident. He'll be back in court on May 29.
