Around 3 a.m. Saturday, an 11-year-old girl was stabbed multiple times by an intruder in a home in the 8000 block of Ella Terrace Court. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Her condition remains unknown at this time.
Officers have not said if the girl knew Castillo or if it was a random attack.
Castillo was arrested and questioned over the weekend. He was also charged with illegal entry connected to a separate incident in Rockford on the same day as the stabbing, according to Becker.
