Man critically injured in crash with semi on US-31

A man driving a moving van couldn't stop in time and slammed into the back of a semi-truck, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said.

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — US-31 has right lanes blocked after a moving van and semi-truck crashed in Ottawa County, the Sheriff's Office says.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Police say a 30-year-old man from Benton Harbor stopped his semi-truck in a northbound lane of US-31 near Felch Street. 

A 37-year-old man from Holland was driving a moving van behind the truck. He failed to stop in time and slammed into the back of the semi.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The semi's driver was uninjured.

Right lanes are blocked at this time for cleanup and investigation.
