1 dead, 1 injured in Grand Rapids shooting

The first victim arrived at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The second victim arrived hours later with a gunshot wound to the chest.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One man is dead and another has minor injuries after a shooting in Grand Rapids early Saturday morning, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department. 

Around 12:20 a.m. GRPD said officers were dispatched to Ardmore Street SE and Thelma Avenue SE for a report of the sound of gunshots. 

GRPD said officers found evidence of a weapon being fired, but no victim on the scene. 

A short while later a man arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said. 

Around 3 a.m., a second man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound in his chest and died, GRPD said. 

The investigation by the Major Case Team at GRPD is ongoing.
