Man found guilty in connection to shooting at Kentwood apartment complex that left 1 injured

Dimario Parker was found guilty of assault with intent to murder and two weapons charges in the shooting of a 49-year-old Kentwood man.

KENTWOOD, Mich. — A man was found guilty in connection to a 2023 shooting that left one person injured.

Dimario Parker was found guilty of assault with intent to murder and two weapons charges on Monday, July 1.

The case goes back to April 28, 2023, when police responded to Woodland Creek Apartments in Kentwood on reports of shots fired. The caller said a man had shot into a vehicle.

Police say Parker and the victim, a 49-year-old Kentwood man, knew each other. They were apparently involved in an altercation before the shooting.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery.

Parker was arrested at a Grand Rapids home later that day. He was then charged with assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon and a felony firearms offense.

David Beers, who lives at the complex, says he saw all the commotion and went to see what was happening.

"There's a red car over there with its windows shot out, it doesn't look good," Beers said at the time.

It is unclear when Parker will be sentenced.
