KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car on Saturday night, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
KDPS said around 10:20 p.m. officers responded to a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in the 3100 block of Portage Street.
The crash happened when a car traveling southbound on Portage Street hit a man who was believed to be crossing the road, KDPS said.
When officers arrived, they said the man was unresponsive on the sidewalk and began first aid.
KDPS said the man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The intersection was closed for several hours while KDPS investigated the crash.
