KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man was killed in a Kalamazoo apartment on Tuesday night when he was hit by gunfire that came through his front door.
According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, around 10:25 p.m. officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired involving an unresponsive man bleeding from his head.
When officers arrived in the 1000 block of Interfaith Boulevard, they said they found a crashed vehicle with bullet holes, multiple shell casings and a small crowd.
Near the scene officers found Mark Wayne Jackson of New Baltimore, 53, unresponsive with gunshot wounds in his apartment. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.
KDPS said according to the initial investigation, the suspect shot at the occupants of a car and ran.
None of the occupants were hurt, but one of the rounds of gunfire hit Jackson's front door, going through it and killing him, KDPS said.
