Detectives identify driver believed to be involved in Mecosta Co. hit-and-run

Mecosta County detectives released this photo of a vehicle they believe was involved in a hit-and-run that left four people injured.

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — Investigators identified the driver of a car they believe was involved in a hit-and-run crash that left four people injured, one seriously.

The crash happened Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. on 100th Avenue in Mecosta County. A car sideswiped a golf cart that was driven by a 71-year-old Stanwood man and had three other passengers, according to deputies. The car then fled the scene.

Three people on the golf cart sustained minor injuries. One occupant, a 17-year-old girl from Colorado, was airlifted to a hospital.

Deputies asked for the public's help in locating the car involved in this accident. It is believed to be a newer, white Ford Expedition. On Wednesday, a photo of the suspect car was posted on the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
