NOW HIRING | Michigan Department of Transportation is hiring a Mackinac Bridge 'Steeplejack'

MACKINAW CITY, Mich. — If you have ever wanted an office with a view, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hiring for a position with a view that is one of a kind.

MDOT is in need of a steeplejack for the Mackinac Bridge.

What is a steeplejack? It is a maintenance and repair job over the Straits of Mackinac, working 300 ft. in the air on the Mackinac Bridge.

Some of the duties include: Sandblasting, painting, washing, greasing, oiling, bolting, caulking, forming, cement work and inspections.

Salary ranges from $20.40 per hour to $31.08 per hour, depending on your level of experience. MDOT said that the salaries are a range "reflects the minimum rate at the entry (7) level through the maximum rate at the advanced (E9) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for."
