MICHIGAN, USA — For one weekend only, Michigan residents and visitors can fish for free, without a license.
This winter's Free Fishing Weekend is on Feb. 17 and 18 and will feature two full days of fishing for everyone.
While all fishing regulations still apply, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) also waives the regular recreation passport entry fee that grants visitors access to Michigan's state parks and DNR's boating access sites.
Free Fishing Weekend has been celebrated every year since 1986 to celebrate Michigan's Great Lakes shoreline, rivers, streams and inland lakes.
Be sure to dress accordingly for changing weather and know these ice safety tips.
