Michigan State Police divers search pond in double homicide investigation

The marine services team with the Michigan State Police spent hours looking through a pond in Sheridan Monday morning, just feet from the Sewards' home.

SHERIDAN, Mich. — The marine services team with Michigan State Police spent hours looking back and forth on the bottom of a Sheridan pond Monday morning. The pond is located only feet away from the home of Jessie and Virginia Seward.

As of right now, investigators told 13 ON YOUR SIDE they have no suspects or leads they are sharing with the public at this time.

The Sewards were found dead in their home on June 26 in Sheridan. Two weeks later, on Monday morning, the couples obituary was published. They will be laid to rest this week.

Jessie and Virginia were married for almost 28 years, and were active members of their church.

According to their obituary, Jessie was a member of the Air Force and loved bowling, baseball and stock car races, with Virginia being described as a loving and caring person who would help anybody in need.

A memorial service for the couple will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Jessie to receive military honors during his burial.

13 ON YOUR SIDE has reached out to the Michigan State Police, who told us their search of the pond was a continuation of their investigation, adding they have no other updates as of right now.
