OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. — An Oakland County woman is facing charges for allegedly restraining her sister and 4-year-old daughter and leaving them, authorities say.

Brittany Indonesia Ivory, 31, of Waterford, has been charged with second-degree child abuse, third-degree vulnerable adult abuse and two counts of unlawful imprisonment.

The charges stem back to an incident on Saturday, Sept. 21, when officers were called to Ivory's home around 3:30 p.m. There, officers found Ivory's 32-year-old sister, who has developmental disabilities, duct taped in the backyard.

Ivory's 4-year-old daughter was found strapped into a stroller inside the home.

Police believe Ivory, who cares for both her sister and daughter, restrained them the previous night and then left the home.

Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment and Ivory was taken into custody.

“Caretakers are entrusted to support and protect the safety of individuals in their care,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. “To use your position of trust to abuse another individual, in this case, a child and a vulnerable adult, is abhorrent. Everyone deserves dignity, respect and to feel secure. My office is committed to holding those who threaten to violate this trust accountable and securing justice for the victims.”

Ivory was arraigned Tuesday. Her bond was set at $10,000 cash/surety. Her probable cause conference is scheduled for Oct. 1.
