Gov. Rick Snyder is asking that U.S. flags flying across Michigan be lowered to half-staff to honor three police officers killed in Baton Rouge.
Snyder wants flags lowered from noon Tuesday through sunset Friday. He says "our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their loved ones and the Baton Rouge community during these troubling times."
Two city of Baton Rouge officers and a sheriff's deputy were shot to death Sunday. Three other officers were hurt. The gunman also was killed.
Flags across Michigan also are flying at half-staff Tuesday to honor victims of last week's terrorist attack in Nice, France.
Eighty-four people were killed after the driver of a truck plowed through crowds watching fireworks. The driver was shot to death by police.
