WATCH | Missing toddler found safe after prying open window, running to body of water wearing only diaper

K-9 Kuno found the child just yards from a large body of water, wearing only a diaper. This is the fifth missing child Kuno has found.

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A child was safely returned back to his family after a dramatic escape on Monday, thanks to the efforts of a Van Buren County K-9.

A 3-year-old boy apparently pried open a window of his home on the 2000 block of 68th Street in Geneva Township and ran away, deputies at the Sheriff's Office said. He was last seen 30 minutes before his disappearance.

Sheriff Daniel Abbott arrived on the scene and requested a K-9 track and drones in the area.

K-9 Kuno and his deputy were called in while off-duty to assist. Kuno's tracking quickly led to footprints pointing northwest of the home.

Nearly a quarter mile from the home, the child was found just yards from a large body of water. He was wearing only a diaper.

The child suffered only minor scratches.

This is the fifth missing child K-9 Kuno has located.
