MANISTIQUE, Mich. — Lost no longer, Yoda is. Found, he has been!
On Monday, March 11 between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., a 30-pound, 16-year-old tortoise named Yoda went missing from his home near Smith Lake in Manistique.
Yoda is a sulcata tortoise, and while turtles have thinner, water-dynamic shells that help them to swim, Yoda's more rounded, domed shell makes him unequipped for water.
On Yoda's missing poster, his owner wrote that he must stay on "DRY LAND ONLY" and said:
"I've had him his whole life. He will die in the matter of days from the cold or wild animals."
Persevered, Yoda did!
With the help of a commercial drone pilot and bird dogs, troopers from the Michigan State Police Manistique Outpost found Yoda and returned him to his owner.
On a Facebook page that helps spread awareness and locate missing animals in the area, Lost & Found Paws of the U.P., there's a post that states Yoda is being treated at a local vet clinic.
