GRAND LEDGE, Mich. — The wife and daughters of a local firefighter were killed in a crash earlier this week near Grand Ledge.
The Lake Odessa Fire Department announced on its Facebook page that Emily, Amalia and Shiloh Root were the ones killed in the crash.
According to police, the family were in a van driving on Mt. Hope Highway southwest of Grand Ledge Thursday evening, when the van went through a stop sign and was hit by a semi.
A third child in the vehicle survived the crash and is recovering in the hospital.
The fire department said they've started a Meal Train to help the family. There is also an account at Union Bank set up under the Lake Odessa Fire Department- Root family.
The department said there's a Venmo link where community members can donate to help the family with costs. The department said the code is 1402.
