NORTON SHORES, Mich. — A teen is in custody after allegedly making a threat toward Mona Shores High School, according to officers with the Norton Shores Police Department.

The threat was reportedly received at 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Officers began investigating the threat and determined it was made by a former Mona Shores student. That student now attends Grand Haven High School, according to officers.

The teen was interviewed and taken into custody. They are now lodged at the Muskegon County Juvenile Detention Center.

Officials with the Mona Shores and Grand Haven school districts were alerted of the threat. After investigating overnight, officers determined the threat was not credible. No risks were found at either district.

This comes as threats continue across Michigan. On Friday, Comstock Public Schools in Kalamazoo was closed to investigate a threat. Grandville schools were also closed Thursday.

Last week, multiple districts investigated threats, including East Kentwood, Byron Center, Newaygo, Jenison, Three Rivers and Grandville.
