MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. — A Greenville woman is dead and two others are seriously hurt after a head-on collision Friday afternoon.

The Montcalm County Sheriff's Office said just after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on West Stanton Road near North Johnson Road in Pine Township.

Crash investigators believe a 54-year-old Grand Rapids man in a GMC pickup truck was driving eastbound on W Stanton Road when he tried to pass a vehicle.

The pickup truck struck a Kia head-on, the sheriff's office said.

First responders flew the Kia's driver, a 54-year-old Greenville woman, to a Grand Rapids area hospital for major injuries.

The Kia's passenger, a 41-year-old Greenville woman, died from her injuries in the crash.

Authorities said the pickup truck driver was also rushed to a Grand Rapids area hospital with major injuries.

First responders shut down W Stanton Road between N Gravel Ridge Road and N Johnson Road for about three hours.

Investigators said they believe alcohol is a factor in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
